Hibiscus Flowers 50g
Dried hibiscus flowers are used in brewing to impart a vibrant ruby-red to pink color, a tart, cranberry-like flavor, and floral aromas to beer.
Often added in the last 10–15 minutes of the boil or during secondary fermentation (dry-hopping), it is popular in saisons, wheat beers, and sour styles, with 30 - 100g typically used per 20 liter batch.
When to Add
- Boil: Added near the end (flameout) for maximum extraction, though too long can lead to astringency.
- Secondary/Dry-Hop: Added directly to the fermenter to preserve more delicate floral aromas.
Beer Styles: Commonly used in Saisons, Witbiers, IPAs, and Gose
